Toyota Camry vs Mazda 6 - interesting to compare the updated special versions. Toyota Camry for the first time in red, Mazda 6 original anniversary edition. Our rivals have close power Toyota Camry - 199 hp, Mazda 6 - 194 hp. The Camry has a more modern 8-speed automatic, the Mazda 6 also has a classic but 6-speed automatic. Both sedans are front-wheel drive with a multi-lever rear suspension.
We have collected the most interesting representatives of this class of sedans - Toyota Camry and Mazda 6. Their configuration is almost maximum and therefore. Of course, we do not take into account dealer mark-ups.
Both sedans are sharpened with powerful motors for drive and comfortable ride. We shall see how all these characteristics are combined, giving out at the right moment steerability and comfort. Autumn dampness on the autodrome in Myachkovo gave us an opportunity to twist a wheel to our pleasure.

Traffic light starts
We repeated starts from a place more than once, changing tracks, but the Mazda 6 starts from a place more confidently than the Toyota Camry. Probably it is helped by the proprietary system G-Vertoring Control, but at the same wheel slippage, the "six" wins the start. The Toyota Camry, having a slight edge in power, finished off the slippage, it steadily holds on to the Mazda 6. The motors that are close in performance give very similar dynamics. We give half a point to the Mazda 6.
The score is 0:0.5.
Lap dynamics and handling.
The comfort with which the Toyota soars over the road is incomparable.
Tire width of the rivals is the same - 225 mm, the only difference is the seating diameter. The Camry has 18 inches, Mazda has one inch more. But the behavior of the rivals is different.
Toyota is for those who wants to live long, therefore slipping is allowable only up to 60 km/h, further electronics is activated. The chassis itself, strangely enough, if also concedes Mazda, it is not so much. The last generation of the Samry has really learned to drive briskly, but nobody cancelled the philosophy of the company. And comfort with which Toyota soars over the road is incomparable. It passes paprika as if there are no any on a track, and it also perfectly swallows road joints and small holes on the road. You can feel it even if you walk up to the car and try to rock it, it's much easier to do this on the Camry than on the Mazda 6
The Mazda 6 takes corners with little to no horizon bending.
Mazda 6 disables electronics almost completely and a driver is left alone with a very bouncy chassis. If you decided to frolic, be ready, that if you make a mistake, you may be turned around. If you are not sure - do not press ESP Off button.
The Camry lost about 1 second to the Mazda 6, and that's entirely attributable to the delays in the electronics. If we were driving on dry asphalt, the Camry's loss was clearly less, but the Mazda 6 leads the way in terms of enjoyment per lap.
It's easy on the Mazda 6 to stay on track, but slippage is allowed, hence the loss of time, but also the courage.
The Mazda 6 scored another half-point on the lap.

Interior, front cabin, comfort
About the comfort in the front, we argued hard. Both cars have their own ideology and each of them is beautiful in its own way. Mazda 6 fascinates with restraint and simultaneous richness of interior. For example, the digital dashboard is almost monochrome; color appears only when necessary. Mazda 6 has a system of all-around vision and projection on a windshield. The Toyota Camry does not. But Mazda 6 has too modest, by modern standards, multimedia screen. Toyota Camry is obviously trimmed simpler, even after restyling it still has analog scales. But its soft seats set up for relaxed trip, which can go on for hours without a shadow of fatigue. However, a front passenger will have to regulate a seat with hands, whereas the "six" has electric drives.
In terms of the cabin in the front, the score was given a draw, score: 1:2
Interior, rear interior.
In the back seat, the Toyota Camry is the clear leader. It is surprising, because Mazda 6 is even bigger in length of wheelbase, but it is more comfortable for rear passengers in Toyota. In expensive versions there is own climate control and even electric drive of backrests, but then you lose the opportunity to fold seats and transport, for example, mountain skis. Mazda 6: there is only heating and charging for a cell phone from usual plushies, but all this is hidden in the central armrest and is available only if there are two people sitting behind. The Toyota Camry scores a point for the back row.
The score is 2 to 2.
Trunk
We got the Toyota with a spare wheelbarrow and therefore without a hump in the trunk. The Camry's floor level is noticeably lower than the Mazda 6's, which means you can carry more stuff. But the first two generations of Mazda brought to body liftback, but they decided to localize in Vladivostok only a sedan, so we were deprived of all other options. By trunk the Toyota Camry takes away a point.
The overall score is 3-2 in favor of the Toyota Camry.

What to choose? Everyone decides for himself, despite the apparent similarity, the characters of Japanese competitors are different. Toyota is the most comfortable and practical car, both for a driver and for those who sit behind. Mazda 6 has more drive, for those, who like to drive and want to take real driver's pleasure from it, such cars remain on roads, alas, more and more rare.
