Toyota Camry GR Sport: a pseudo-sport version of the popular sedan

In the course of the planned restyling of the Toyota Camry sedan (XV70), a pseudo-sport version, the GR Sport, has a number of differences from the standard version of the model. The price of such version varies from $25,000 to $30,000.

On the outside, the Toyota Camry Gear Sport 2022 can be recognised by the presence of a number of black components (e.g. side mirror housings). The "sports" four-door also has 18-inch wheels (the regular version has 17″ rollers in base) and a spoiler on the boot lid. Toyota's lineup There are three body paint options available for this car.

Two of them are two-tone (with a black roof): these are white and red shades, while the third option is an all-black auto. The interior of the new Toyota Camry GR Sport is finished in leather with red contrast stitching. In addition, inserts of the same colour are available directly on backs of seats. It sets sports mood, plus there is an audio system JBL with 9 loudspeakers, though the last one is also available in some other top variants. As for powertrains, you can order the 2022 Toyota Camry GR Sport sedan in Russia with two older engines - both combined in tandem with an eight-speed Aisin automatic. We're talking about the 2.5-liter atmospheric four, which develops 200 hp and 243 Nm. With such engine, the sedan accelerates from a place up to a hundred in 8.7 seconds, developing speed up to the maximum 210 km/h. Under the bonnet of the top version is a 3.5-liter V6 with 249 bhp and 356 Nm of torque. In this case, acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 7.7 seconds and the maximum speed reaches 220 km/h. Note that the top version has separate buttons for driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport), located next to the gear lever. Since all of these "tricks" of the new Toyota Camry GR Sport are reduced only to decoration, and there are no changes in terms of technology, this sedan drives exactly the same as the conventional versions of the model.

With top V6 four-door has excessive stock of capacity for movement in a city, and on a motorway the power unit especially does not have to strain. In terms of handling the car shows excellent stability in a straight line, and goes through fast corners more than confidently, tenaciously clinging to the asphalt. The sedan has good steering feedback and the suspension shows indifference to all sorts of irregularities, though taking into account the bigger 18-inch wheels, some imperfections of the road surface become noticeable.

The new Toyota Camry V70 has been offered in Russia with a seriously revised range of power units, unified with the RAV4 crossover, according to the previously released TPCS. In particular, Japanese have refused the former 2,0-liter atmospheric engine 6AR-FSE in favour of the engine M20A-FKS of similar volume.

The latter has a combined fuel injection, but compression ratio was increased from 12.7:1 to 13:1. The unit can run on AI-91. The output of this motor is still 150 hp, while the torque reaches 206 Nm (+ 14).

Maximum traction is possible at 4,400 rpm (- 300). Runs the base engine in tandem with a Direct Shift V-belt variator with a "manual" first gear (previously there was a six-speed automatic). Acceleration to a hundred is reduced from 11.0 to 9.5 seconds, but the top speed remains the same at 210 km/h.

The 2.5 litre 2AR-FE was replaced by a more modern A25A-FKS of the same displacement. Instead of the distributed injection the engine is used combined injection and compression ratio is increased from 10.4:1 to 13:1. Filling up is also possible with a "ninety-first". The new engine produces 200 hp (+19) and 243 Nm of torque (+12), with peak thrust again reached a little earlier - at 4,000 rpm (-100). The engine works in tandem with an eight-speed automatic (previously there was a six-band), providing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds (- 1.2 s) and a top speed of 210 km/h.
