My friends, today I would like to talk about the Toyota Camry, which is reliable and probably practical in the truest sense of the word. In fact, it's probably one of the best mid-range sedans. This car has spacious interior and comfortable ride. And if it goes in hybrid version, it is also an effective economy of fuel and accordingly money.
Let's take a closer look at it together. The Camry Hybrid is based on Toyota's modular platform which includes the already famous Prius. But it is longer and wider. Its exterior looks with a noticeably aggressive character. A nice interior with an attractive dashboard is made of soft materials. It's no longer the hard plastic we've seen in many new cars. The seven-inch touchscreen, in our opinion, blends in nicely with the interior. There are six speakers around the cabin, as standard.
Now, let's run through the specs a bit. This is a 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine, which develops 203 horsepower at 6600 rpm. It only drives the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Fuel consumption figures are as follows: 8.1 litres per 100 km in the city and 5.7 litres per 100 km on the highway. In the mixed cycle, as the manufacturer assures 6.92 litres per 100 km.
There is a 3.5 litre V6 model. It produces 301 horsepower at 6,600 rpm. The transmission is the same, eight-speed. The fuel consumption, it's clear, will be correspondingly higher.
Finally, the Camry Hybrid. 176-horsepower version of four-cylinder base car plus electric motor with lithium-ion or nickel-metal hybrid battery. Either way, the two power sources provide 208 horsepower. The system shifts through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Let's take a look at the fuel consumption figures now:
4.58 litres per 100 kilometres in the city,
4.44 litres per 100 kilometres on the motorway.
4.52 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle.
Yes, these are simply excellent figures in our opinion. Of course, a lot of factors also depend on the pace of driving. And what do you think, write in the comments.
The Camry lineup includes five trim levels. These are the L, LE, SE. All come with a four-cylinder engine, while the XLE and XSE models come with a V6. The hybrid version has a choice between LE, SE and XLE.
In Europe, there are models with 2.0 and 2.5 litre four-cylinder engines. There's also a 3.5-litre V6. The number of gears is 6 and 8 respectively. The hybrid version has not yet arrived.
Prices for base models start at $24,095 and $28,400 for the Hybrid version in the US. In Europe from 24 000 USD.
In our opinion, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Mazda6, Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima and Kia Optima may be direct competitors.
