Toyota Camry is a front-wheel-drive business sedan (it is also segment "E" according to the European classification), which combines a solid design, reliable construction, high level of comfort and safety, as well as rich equipment (and all this for relatively affordable money).
The car is in demand among families with a good level of annual income, and in the corporate sector (officials, businessmen, cab services, etc.) ... The world premiere of the sixth generation three-unit, with the factory designation "XV70", we can say - "thundered" in January 2017 (at the International North American Auto Show in Detroit), a few months later sales began in the United States and Japan.
After another change of generations, the car became much more elegant externally and internally, moved to a new modular architecture TNGA, got more driving character and added a number of modern "gadgets" to its functionality.
In mid-July 2020, the restyled three-wheeler debuted during a virtual presentation, but then only in the North American specification. As a result of modernization sedan slightly "freshened" exterior (modified bumpers, grille and wheel design), made minor adjustments to the cabin, added new options and seriously "shaken" engine range, unifying it with the crossover RAV4.
From the outside, the "sixth" Toyota Camry shows an attractive, elegant and dynamic, but at the same time noble and monumental look, which is designed to please both the young audience and fans of the old style.
Its aggressive front end attracts attention with the predatory glance of LED optics and a huge air intake in the bumper, and its powerful rear is crowned by large LED lights and "bloated" bumper (with one or two "barrels" of the exhaust system, depending on the version).
In profile, the four-door boasts a solid, but not bulky silhouette, which is exalted by a long hood, relief "splashes" on the sides, subsided sill line, a powerful rear roof pillar and the impressive wheel arches (accommodating "rollers" size up to 18 inches).
In addition, a "sports" version GR Sport is offered for the car, which can be identified due to the black roof and exterior decor (trunk lid spoiler, mirrors, etc.), transparent diffusers of taillights and two-tone or black 18-inch wheels of original design.
In terms of its dimensions Toyota Camry XV70 fully complies with the concepts of business class: the length of the car stretches to 4885 mm, width reaches 1840 mm in height falls within 1455 mm. Wheelbase of the three-volume extends to 2825 mm, its ground clearance does not exceed 160 mm, and the length of the front and rear tracks is equal to 1575 mm and 1565 mm, respectively.
Interior
Inside, the sixth-generation Toyota Camry attracts attention with a riot of design ideas and captivates with details, but at the same time it is worked out with taste - just an asymmetry of the central console, where the 7- or 9-inch screen of the multimedia complex, the original "microclimate" block and a fusion bend, outlining the driver's area.
The interior is complemented by a weighty multi steering wheel with a three-spoke rim and a smart instrument cluster with two "wells" and a 7-inch display of the on-board computer.
The interior uses only expensive materials of trim - soft plastic of several kinds, aluminum, high-quality wood, leather, etc. As for the "sports" performance of GR Sport, its interior is defined at once by the abundant red stitching (on the front panel, door cards, seats, etc.), as well as appropriate decorative elements.
In the front, the Japanese sedan is equipped with ergonomic seats with an optimally developed side profile and a large number of adjustments in different directions.
In the back there is a comfortable sofa with a central armrest (in the "top" versions there is a sensor control unit for "microclimate", audio system and other parameters).
In its normal condition, the trunk of the "Camry" XV70 can absorb up to 493 liters of luggage, and the folding rear sofa allows you to carry long objects.
In expensive modifications the second row of seats is not transformed and has an adjustable backrest, as a result, the volume of "hold" amounts to no more than 469 liters. In a recess under the raised floor there are a full-size spare and tools.
Dynamics, speed and consumption
The car conquers the first "hundred" in 7.7-9.5 seconds, and picks up 210-220 km/h maximum. In mixed conditions, the four-door "destroys" on average from 6 to 8.7 liters of fuel per every 100 km, depending on the modification.
Design features
The sixth "release" of the Toyota Camry is based on the TNGA modular architecture (to be more precise, its medium-sized variant labeled GA-K) with a transversely mounted engine and expanded use of high-strength steel grades in construction.
The front axle of the sedan uses independent suspension on the basis of McPherson struts, and on the rear - double wishbone system ("around" - with transverse stabilizers and telescopic shock absorbers).
The car is equipped with rack-and-pinion steering mechanism with adaptive electric booster. All wheels of the four-door are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated in front), supplemented with ABS, EBD and other modern assistants.
