What are the problems with the Toyota Camry 2011?
The paint coating of Japanese cars is traditionally quite weak. And Toyota Camry VII is not an exception. After several winters, "bugs" slightly above a radiator grill are not uncommon. And the shining covering of a radiator grill noticeably loses its initial look during this time. There are also claims to the glasses of side mirrors. There have been some cases, when the glasses were cracked after heating. These cases are, however, single. So, it is not necessary to speak about any global problem.
Interior of the Japanese looks very solid, but in quality of finishing materials it obviously does not reach the same level as in premium European sedans. Leather upholstery in Camry with some time jams appear, and the filler of front seats start to crumble and sag after 40-50 thousand kilometers. The owners of Japanese sedan complain about the creak when turning the steering wheel, which may appear after 10 thousand km. The reason is insufficient quantity of grease in the helical contact. But if the squeak can be tolerated, the damage of electric harness, which may lead to loss of contact with airbags, is not to be ignored. Fortunately, Japanese are aware of this problem and under warranty replace bad spiral contact with exactly the same one, but with needed level of grease.
Another weak point is the ventilation of the interior is literally pouring rain from the ceiling due to the formation of condensation between the roof and the ceiling upholstery. This problem, by the way, is typical for many modern cars. As well as the occurrence of "crickets" all over the salon, the struggle with which more often turns out to be fruitless. It is useless to struggle with "glitches" of a parking sensor. Its sensors get dirty or become encrusted with ice, which leads to their false triggering.
But there are still no serious complaints about the engines installed in the seventh generation Toyota Camry. Even though the majority of cars have not yet had too much mileage, which does not allow building a complete picture regarding their reliability, but we can safely talk about the absence of obvious weaknesses in their design even now. So far, the biggest complaint from the owners is the brief rattle that occurs when starting a cold engine, and not very durable crankshaft rear oil seal, which in many Camry is already starting to leak.
All written about the engine is true for 1AZ-FE and for 1AZ-FSE as they are almost identical and differ from each other only by the fact that the last engine is injected into a cylinder, and the first - into the intake manifold.
So far, there are no complaints about the automatic transmission. Due to its fairly simple design by modern standards, its reliability level is almost unattainable for competitors. But there is a disadvantage - there is no choice of transmissions in Toyota Camry 7 generation - only automatic transmission 6.
Suspension of the Camry is also quite reliable. The only thing the owners of Japanese car scold it for the fact that in winter it noticeably "gets cold" and starts to work with other sounds. With the onset of warm days, however, extraneous sounds can never disappear. As for the terms of "consumables" replacement, so far, the majority of Toyota Camry owners have had to change only the silent-blocks, which have the estimated service life of 60-70 thousand kilometers.
Naturally, in course of time "itchy" things in Toyota Camry will become more and more. But meanwhile we should admit that the Japanese car is really very reliable. Suspension, the engine, automatic gearbox - there are no claims to them. As regards finishing materials, which are not the most expensive by the standards of this class of automobiles, it is possible to be reconciled with them. It is better to drive with "crickets", than to spend days and weeks in service without them.
